Without SAIT Issued Computers


SAIT offers a secure wireless network that can be accessed by WPA2 Compliant Cards. Please follow the procedure listed below to enable WPA2 for your wireless adapter. If you have any problems please contact helpline .

Requirements

Enabling WPA2 Authentication and Security

  1. Click the Windows button at the bottom, select Control Panel , then Network and Sharing Center and click on Manage wireless networks .

  2. Click Add and select Manually create a network profile. Enter the following information:
    Network name: sait-secure
    Security type: WPA2-Enterprise
    Encryption type: AES
    Enable Start this connection automatically
    Make sure that your settings match the picture below.


  3. Click Next, Change connection Settings and select Security tab.


  4. Click Advanced settings button. On 802.1X settings tab modify the settings to the following:
    Enable "Specify authentication mode" checkbox.
    Select "User Authentication" from the drop down menu.
    Make sure that your settings match the picture below, and click Ok


  5. Click Settings button and click Configure button. Leave Automatically use my Windows login name and password enabled.


  6. Enable Connect to these servers checkbox.
    Enter "auth3.is.sait.ca;auth4.is.sait.ca;app1649.is.sait.ca;app1650.is.sait.ca"
    Select "DigiCert Global Root CA"checkbox.
    Select "thawte Primary Root CA" checkbox.
    Make sure that your settings match the pictures below, and click Ok


    Disable Automatically use my Windows login name and password.


  7. Click OK buttons and close any windows to exit the configuration. Click the bubble at the bottom right hand corner to login. The Network Authentication window will pop-up. Enter your ACDM user name and password. Then click OK .


  8. Enter your ACDM user name and password. Then click OK.


  9. The wireless card will authenticate with the network and send a security certificate to your computer. You are now connected to the WPA enabled, SAIT wireless network.
